got two job offers 1 at Olive Garden as a server, another at Lowe’s for 9.19.hr. Anybody work at either place?
hi.. I have been a server for a while and getting burned out on it. Just got an offer at Olive garden as a server (duh)…for 2.13 per hour/tips. Or a cashier’s position at Lowe’s for $9.17 per hour. I am not sure which one to take. Anybody ever work for either company? I hear Lowe’s is a great company to work for, I don’t know. Tired of the food industry personally. Any answers would be greatly appreciated. I know as a server in the past, people are cheap. Especially if I would be working at OG it would be strictly lunches. Help!!! Thanks!
I’ve worked as a server myself, and I can tell you after a number of years experience, it all depends on the market you’re in and the type of clientele your restaurant attracts.
I’ve noticed that Olive Garden has these specials from time to time (i.e. – the Never-Ending Pasta Bowl) that has the cheapskates hobbling over there in droves. Most of them usually do McDonald’s or some other fast food alternative and have no clue about tipping, despite the fact that they get to have YOU as their personal slave for 1-2 hours. Sad, really…
As this point, I would suggest you take the Lowe’s job. Over 9 bucks an hour for a cashier position is not that bad. If nothing else, just to get out of the foodservice industry if only for a little while.
And if you ever decide to get out of Lowe’s and back into foodservice, word of advice: try to get a position with a locally-owned restaurant with a high-end clientele (not necessarily fine-dining, but somewhere that doesn’t woo the cheapskates; they ARE out there). Stay away from the corporate chains; aside from the wide range of clientele, mostly cheapskates, so many rules and regulations implemented by humorless corporate cyborgs.

Moon flits into Gemini & Sun Jupiter Opposition in Leo/Aquarius & Moon Squares to Mercury/Saturn (August 14- 15.2009)
I always like to start with the Moon position in the zodiac wheel because it gives the emotional underlying current of the 2 ½ days the goddess Lunar spends in one sign. It is our fastest moving planet and many people do feel the waxing and waning of the inner tides in sync with the outer Moon.
So how are you feeling today? Are you feeling good or bad, excited about life or low and depressed? I like you to stop for a moment, close your eyes and check in with yourself!
Where are you in your inner world?
Every journey starts from where you are. If you become aware of the feeling you have, you will then have the conscious choice of redirecting your focus towards better thoughts and feelings.
Moon in astrology reflects our consciousness evolving through our inner digestive process of our feelings and how it guides us more intuitively. Emotions are often unclear and hidden from the light of consciousness and might take a while to float up to conscious recognition and acknowledgement. Moon is the archetypal mother, goddess, the inner woman or outer woman, nourishing us in her unique way of being.
Every circle the Moon completes will be different because the Moon will be in a different position of fullness and strength and situated in different aspect connections with other planets which add their spice to the mix. Let us have a closer look at the principles of Gemini and the potential impact it will carry for you!
Gemini: Inspired Communicator and Curious Butterfly (May 21–June 21)
The ruling planet is Mercury. The element is air and the gender is considered masculine.
Geminis have great minds! They are fast learners and interested in a great variety of topics, so they accumulate a large store of knowledge. Additionally, the have the ability to communicate their knowledge very well and make great conversationalists. They need the stimulation of moving like a butterfly from one thing that catches their interest to the next. This gives them flexibility—they don’t get stuck for long in one place and are always ready for a new challenge. A drawback of their fascination with details is that they might miss the bigger picture. They excel in all fields involving the written or spoken word.
Moon in Gemini
The Moon in this mental sign will introduce the spirit of openness and curiosity. There is a lightness of the spirit and flexibility in our way of processing thoughts. Gemini has a beginner mind, like a child, open for new impressions and eager to learn.
The Freshness of the Moment
I was watching my cat this morning! It’s a 2 year old tomboy and when I picked him up to cuddle him he would only tolerate that for 10 seconds. On my arm he kept scanning, totally focused onto the world with his eyes and ears; ready to run off into the garden to inquire the world. Such eagerness to experience the world; so much joy there! Can you remember feeling that way when you were young?
I do! I remember that I would wake up early mornings before anybody else in my family eager for the day. I couldn’t wait to start the day.
Nowadays I need a strong cup of black tea to wake up and my meditation practice to be ready to face the day.
With the Moon in Gemini we can tap into that innocence and curious mindset of a child for a little while. It is an openness to act more from a fresh inner place then the old rigid structures. We can feel supported to really be in the present moment with its freshness and beauty.
Sun Jupiter Opposition in Leo/Aquarius
Sun in astrology show us our self- identity, the inner place of strength we act from in our life. Sun is representing the inner and outer male figure. Sun is our self awareness and consciousness guiding us into choices and decisions. With the Sun moving through the whole zodiac throughout the year it gives us different mental perspectives onto life and guides our process of evolution as an individual and as a whole humankind.
Jupiter is the part in us which has a need to grow and expand, to do something worthwhile on this earth in our time here. Jupiter is our need to contribute to the whole, share from our inner place of wisdom and make a difference. If you have a strong Jupiter in your chart you might choose to become a teacher, seminar leader or even a missionary of some kind to pass on your view of the world.
We all might have had that experience that we were really passionate about something and we became carried away and missionary about it and our friends didn’t respond to well to that. This behavior can be the crux with Jupiter, we might go overboard with all our good intentions, believing that there is only one objective truth and we have found it…
Radiant Sun teams up with expansive Jupiter to help us with the “taking action” part in reaching our dreams. They are a powerful team in manifesting and implementing dreams into reality. Jupiter with his expansive thrust, thinking outside the box, seeing the bigger picture is motivating us taking steps towards those dreams. But again be aware of the missionary tendency of Jupiter; you don’t want to impose your truth onto others.
Moon Squares to Mercury/Saturn on Saturday Morning
Mercury is strongly associated with everything involving communication—speaking writing, the media, even our internal communication. Mercury rules all things related to the mind and our internal life: rational thinking, intellect, intelligence, curiosity, learning, and memory.
With Mercury still in its own sign Virgo, it brings in a level of cool, more objective and organized thinking and will help us not to get lost in our inner dream world. Because of his flexible and logical mind Mercury will be of great help to bring the dream potential into the world.
Saturn is a father figure, but not necessarily a benevolent one—he is associated with restrictions, limitations, and fear. This is a highly practical, unemotional planet, associated with concrete reality, material things, rules and laws, and authority. Saturn is not a creative influence; rather it reminds us of our duty to act responsibly to maintain the established social order, and to develop self-discipline for order in our life and to persist during times of hardship.
A square is an aspect of friction between two planets and what they represent! This connection between Moon, Mercury and Saturn points towards a need to become more clear in your thinking, your intentions and dreams to be able to make them into a reality.
If you have been coming back more often to my blog you might be aware how passionate I am about journaling. For me journaling is a way befriending myself; spending quality time with myself and get to know deeper currents of my stream of consciousness.
Journaling
If you have a friend, you want to spend time with that person because you enjoy their company. Journaling is a way to spend time with yourself and get to know yourself in a different way! You will inquire into deeper layers of your personality and your divine nature by turning your focus inwards. Sometimes it might surprise you what will pop up in your journaling! Your journal will always be there for you to become clear of your intentions and put them down in words. That is the first step of manifesting! No house has ever been build without an idea and a plan to execute. A well lived life needs conscious intentions, values and decisions.
Journaling will help you to be in the here and now, but also helps you to set your future into motion.
Your Life is right now
I love the work of Abraham-Hicks with the Law of Attraction! It always gives me these reminders to set myself right internally by returning to joy as my primary directive in life.
“Your life is right now! It’s not later! It’s not in that time of retirement. It’s not when the lover gets here. It’s not when you’ve moved into the new house. It’s not when you get the better job. Your life is right now. It will always be right now. You might as well decide to start enjoying your life right now, because it’s not ever going to get better than right now–until it gets better right now!”— Abraham-Hicks
Use astrology as your personal guidance system to align yourself with the cosmic requirements of the moment and turn lemons into lemonade. Understand what is going on and then go with the flow! Every windsurfer in Hawaii can testify how much easier it is to go with the flow of the wave and how impossible to fight your way against it. For me astrology is an open invitation to understand the universal actual flow and use it to my advantage for a fuller, more successful and joyful life.
If you like my astrological musings I invite you to find more on myAstrological Signs Weather Report & Healing Gems Blog for a regular update on the universal flow in the heavens. In my book Jewelry and Gems for Self-Discovery: Choosing Gemstones that Delight the Eyes & Strengthen the Soul I teach you about astrology and how to read your own chart. Building A Profitable MLM, Network Marketing Home Business
Any new business requires an investment of capital, time and
planning. You will have a much higher chance of success, working
from home, if you spend time establishing yourself first. An
airplane uses most of it’s fuel at take off. Network marketing
is similar. You need to put in a huge effort to get your
business off the ground. If you remain consistent in your
efforts your business will fly. If you are inconsistent you will
be stopping and starting. You will use up so much fuel on each
take off that you will burn out before you reach cruising level.
Your Business Plan Have written goals of what you want to
achieve in your business. Have time lines for when you will
reach each level. From this you can write a plan of how you will
ensure you reach your targets. Follow your written plan. Draw a
line down the side of your diary page. Mark non negotiable
times. For example when you will do personal development, follow
up calls, advertising and for how long. Stick to your time
limits. Also write down the things that you must achieve for the
day. This gives you a visual reminder of your Daily Method of
Operation (DMO). This is a simple way to keep a daily check on
your time management skills. Don’t finish work until you achieve
your goals for that day. Do not compromise
Concentrate on Areas of Importance Decide on the areas of your
activity that give you the most return. Continually ask yourself
“is this activity directly and positively related to retailing
or recruiting? Don’t lose your self in the unimportant
activities. Remember the 80/20 rule. This states that 80% of
your business will come from 20% of your work, 20% of your
customers will provide 80% of your sales. So it is imperative
that you concentrate on the 20% and do not getting lost in the
80% that is not important. Structure your time so that it is
invested where you achieve the best rate of return.
Build Your Inner Strengths Be respectful to everyone you come in
contact with. Always be positive and enthusiastic. Don’t down
grade yourself with negative thoughts or words. Realize that we
all have a continual responsibility to grow, learn and improve
ourselves. Commit yourself to at least 1 hour of personal
development a day. This can be fun and easily achieved. Always
have a positive cd/tape playing in your car. When you do
gardening, housework or exercise, make sure you are listening to
personal development tapes/cd’s at the same time. Don’t make it
a chore. Make it a fun and integral part of your day.
You can achieve great wealth, satisfaction and happiness when
you have the right business opportunity and the right attitude.
Establish good guidelines for yourself the first day you start
your business. Follow them every day. If they are not one
hundred percent improve or alter your plan. Work as hard on
improving yourself as you work on building your business. You
will be well rewarded for your efforts.

I want to return to work but am unsure of which companies offer 16 hours a week just in school hours.?
Does anyone know what i could do or who i could get in contact with. I was an Architectural technologist and Interior designer for my last company but they made me redundant the day I was due back after maternity leave (its ok I got all payments due to me) but because of this and being a single mum to a teenager and baby I also got made evicted from my privately rented house (cant prove it was because off being made redundant so dont need answers to this either) but was finally rehomed under homelessness. That was 6 months ago and i really dont want to be living on any benefits but must work around my youngest. Is there any employers out there that offer jobs mon-fri 9-5 only? I will do anything (Within reason, No remarks please) I want to study for my RHS Landscape Gardening course and eventually set myself up in business Part time when eldest is old enough to look after herself and youngest at school. Many thanks.
